Caltex DHTU-2 Project

Project: Caltex DHTU-2

Brisbane, Queensland, Australia

In 2004, Caltex Australia Ltd launched an intensive Refining Performance Improvement Program (RPIP) with the aim of significantly increasing profitability and improving throughput. This identified the need to increase production capacity for ultra-low sulphur diesel (<10ppm S). This resulted in a decision to install a new Diesel Hydrotreater Unit (DHTU) at the Caltex Lytton Refinery.

Shedden Uhde was awarded contracts for the FEED preparation and EPCM delivery of this unit.

The new unit DHTU-2 will have a capacity of 3000 tpd and will operate in parallel with the existing DHTU-1, also having a capacity of 3000 tpd.
