Nam Con Son Gas Plant

The Nam Con Son Phase Gas Plant Phase 2 expansion located in southern Vietnam near Vung Tau, has been successfully started up during late August (Gas Train) and September (Liquids Train) and the entire facility is producing according to the design. The contract was with BP Pipelines Vietnam who were the original operators of the plant but have now handed over to the local entity Nam Con Son Pipelines, a subsidiary of the Vietnamese government owned company, PetroVietnam.

Uhde Shedden undertook detail engineering during 2001/2 for the original Train 1 which was started in 2003 and has subsequently operated with a very high level of availability at rates up to 165% of design, with minor modifications engineered by Uhde Shedden.

Uhde Shedden has subsequently completed the concept selection and feasibility study, FEED and detail engineering and procurement services for the second train installation. The original Train 1 design concept was engineered by KBR Singapore in conjunction with BP International. The Train 2 design concept, engineered by Uhde Shedden, represents a subtle departure from Train 1, and has achieved Capex savings of approximately 33% (in excess of US$25million) compared to a duplication of the original Train, with no reduction in design capacity or performance.
