Project: Shell HDS2 Hydrodesulphurisation

Geelong, Victoria, Australia

The Shell Geelong HDS2 hydrodesulphurisation project will reduce the diesel sulphur content to 50 ppm sulphur meeting the Federal Governments fuel specification that will be introduced on 1 January 2006. The HDS unit is a conventional reactor designed by Shell Global Solutions with a through-put of 6000 t/d of Gas Oil feed. Additional modifications will also be required on the Utilities, flare system and the water treating system to accommodate the new plant, located adjacent to the Crude Distillation Unit 4 on the Refinery site.

Shedden Uhde worked as part of an integrated team with prime contractor CBI Constructions in the Shedden Uhde West Melbourne offices and was responsible for all detailed design and procurement on the project together with engineering assistance on site during construction.
